Working and teaching in the time of corona

The government has announced radical measures to contain the outbreak of coronavirus in the Netherlands and Leiden University is heeding these measures. This has consequences for our students and staff.

Coronavirus is generating a great deal of uncertainty throughout the world. Fortunately, there are some bright spots. Leiden historian Suze Zijlstra has launched the online solidarity campaign #CoronaHulp.

Rector Carel Stolker: 'Students, stay healthy - mentally as well'

The current situation at our university is a strange one: no face-to-face classes, all buildings are closed and our students stay at home. We understand that it is difficult for students right now. Our Rector Magnificus Carel Stolker has a message for all of you. 'Take care of your health, both physically and mentally.'

Hardly an audience and a remote committee: receiving a PhD in times of corona

Almost all PhD defences at Leiden University have been postponed because of coronavirus, but statistician Sanne Willems went through with hers. In a different form than usual that is.

Enjoy the photo exhibition in the Old Observatory from home

Two radio telescopes in Green Bank, West Virginia have brought together some remarkable people. An exhibition about this remote community was supposed to open at the Old Observatory, but coronavirus has put paid to that. See the highlights online instead.
