KeywordsNeo-Latin literature, reception of classical antiquity, organisation of knowledge in the early modern peri, emblem studies, ideology in Roman literature
My inspirationAs professor of Neo-Latin Literature, my research focuses on the description of the literary genres (e.g. biography, autobiography, historiography, elegy, letter writing, prefaces and dedications), on the topic of the organisation of knowledge in the Early Modern Period (e.g. zoology, mythography, commonplace books and typologies of formal organisation of knowledge in the printed book), on emblem studies (Schoonhovius, Reusner, Vaenius; the Neo-Latin Emblem Book in the Low Countries and Germany), on the Reception of Classical Authors in the Early Modern Period (e.g. Ovid, Horace), on textual criticism (e.g. Petrarch) and on ideology in Roman literature (e.g. Vergil, Pliny the Younger, Ovid). Recent publications include contributions on Petrarch, Erasmus, Eobanus Hessus, Justus Lipsius and Leon Battista Alberti.
