student wins ECHO Award Leiden
University College The Hague student Sass Rogando Sasot has
won the 2013 ECHO Award. 'Sass is truly a peaceful activist.
She will be a role model for students in and beyond the
Netherlands.'

Dutch royal family Both
the future King Willem-Alexander and current Queen
Beatrix studied in Leiden. Leiden even has a member of the
House of Orange to thank for its original
foundation. Leiden academics are specialists in the
history of the Royal House. Alumni gather in circles
around the royal couple. To mark the succession, here are

How does a nuclear physicist
become a dementia expert? Serge
Rombouts, Professor of Cognitive Neuro-imaging, works at
Leiden University, both at the Faculty of Social and
Behavioural Sciences and at the LUMC: a perfect combination of
his two specialist fields. He has been awarded a Vici grant
for research on early-stage dementia.

Leiden The
number of Greek students in Leiden is growing fast. The
biggest Greek newspaper Ta Nea sent a journalist to see what
Leiden has to offer to Greek students. ‘Leiden is not chaotic
like our own Greek universities. Here we finally get around to
studying.’
