  LUMC to lead European study into early development and later health
Professor Eline Slagboom of the LUMC and Professor Bas Zwaan of Wageningen University have secured an EU grant of 12 million euros to study how early circumstances influence health at a later age. Fourteen research groups in the EU and two businesses are participating in this project.

  New Science building
The construction of the new unilocation for the Faculty of Science can start next year. The Executive Board has approved the design for the first phase. The building will meet strict sustainability norms.

  Personal chair in ‘Stress-related psychopathology’ for Bernet Elzinga
Clinical psychologist Dr Bernet Elzinga has been appointed as Professor of a personal chair at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. This professorship will contribute both nationally and internationally to the broader promotion of Leiden University in the field of stress and psychopathology.

  Leiden University 2nd in Telders International Law Moot Court
On 30 April 2011, a Leiden University team won 2nd place in the final round of the 34th edition of the prestigious Telders International Law Moot Court Competition.

  Jordanian museums: room for improvement
Jordan has a fast-growing number of museums, not all of which meet the international guidelines for conserving and exhibiting objects. Raed AlGhazawi documented the internal quality of nine museums and a main depot. He defended his thesis on 14 April.

  LUC Student Poster Conference - a success!
Students from LUC The Hague have been studying issues that are important for The Hague, such as public transport, healthcare, recycling and waste management, security and privacy. They presented the results to Ingrid van Engelshoven, Alderwoman for Education in The Hague, in the form of a poster conference.
