Information for teaching assignments and staff training 2011-2012 
Please note: In view of the limited budget, a correctly completed and signed Erasmus grant form and full compliance with the conditions do not guarantee a financial award.
Priority will be given to staff and teachers who are making their first visit abroad funded by an Erasmus grant.

A. Erasmus grant for staff training
Objective
The Erasmus grant for staff training is intended for teaching and non-teaching staff for the purpose of following training courses abroad.
Conditions
- You must be employed by Leiden University.
- The training course must take place between 1 June 2011 and 30 September 2012.
- The minimum duration is 1 week (5 full working days), up to a maximum of 6 weeks.
A stay of less than 5 days is permitted provided the application includes a statement by your team leader that you cannot be missed for this minimum period, or if the visit is for the purpose of attending conferences, seminars or workshops. A document stating the relevance need to be added to the application form.
- The host institution must hold an Erasmus University Charter.
- A bilateral agreement between the two institutions must have been concluded before the exchange takes place.
- You are not making use of any other grant or subsidy from the European Union within the context of any other programme for the training course related to this agreement.
- The grant for staff members will not be used to cover costs that are already being financed from another source.
- The application must be received by Student and Educational Affairs at least 6 weeks before departure, and should be signed by your faculty international studies coordinator (for Social and Behavioural Science (FSW) staff, this is the departmental coordinator).
- If you are awarded a grant, you are required to complete and sign the documents enclosed with the confirmation of the award, and to return these before the deadline mentioned in the decision letter. A sum of € 50 will be retained, which you will receive after the visit has taken place and following receipt of the documents mentioned.
- If your foreign stay is cancelled, finishes earlier, is extended or if the Erasmus conditions are no longer met, you are obliged to inform the Student and Educational Affairs and your international coordinator in writing within 5 working days.

Erasmus grant
The Erasmus grant for staff training amounts to € 75 per day (including travel days) and € 150 travel allowance for the period mentioned in the conditions.
The grant is intended as an allowance for the extra mobility expenses and is not intended to cover the full costs of the stay abroad.
Application procedure
The Application form for staff training should be signed by the faculty international studies coordinator (for Social and Behavioural Science (FSW ) staff, this is the departmental coordinator), and sent at least six weeks before departure to:

Please note: the application form should be signed by your faculty international studies coordinator (for Social and Behavioural Science (FSW ) staff, this is the departmental coordinator). The Student and Educational Affairs of Leiden University is responsible for the administration of the Erasmus grant for staff training for 2011-2012.
Applications that are not signed by the coordinator will NOT be processed. It is the responsibility of the member of staff to ensure that the application form is complete.
Application forms prior to the Erasmus year 2011-2012 will no longer be accepted.
Report form
You will receive with the letter of confirmation a number of documents that have to be submitted before or after your stay abroad. One of these is the report form that should be sent in digital form after the stay abroad to: outbound@sea.leidenuniv.nl

B. Erasmus grant for teaching assignments
Objective
The Erasmus grant is intended for teaching staff to carry out a teaching assignment at a higher education institution abroad.
It is also possible for staff from a company in one of the participating countries to be invited to carry out a teaching assignment at Leiden University.
Conditions

- You must be employed by Leiden University
- The teaching period must be between 1 June 2011 and 30 September 2012.
- The teaching assignment must be at least 5 working hours.
- The minimum duration is 5 days, up to a maximum of 6 weeks.
In the case of a good proposal, there is some flexibility in the minimum duration of 5 days. Please send an email to outbound@sea.leidenuniv.nl
- The host institution should hold an Erasmus University Charter.
- A bilateral agreement between the two institutions must be signed before the exchange takes place. An exception is made for staff of a company abroad who come to Leiden University to carry out a teaching assignment.
- The grant for teachers cannot be used to cover costs that are already being financed from another source.
- The application should be with the Student and Educational Affairs at least six weeks before departure and should be signed by your faculty international studies coordinator (for Social and Behavioural Science (FSW ) staff, this is the departmental coordinator).

C. Additional Subsidy for teaching and non-teaching staff with a disability
If you have a disability and are eligible for an Erasmus grant you may also be eligible for an additional subsidy.
To request this additional subsidy please submit the following documents along with your Erasmus grant request:
- A description of the nature of your disability/personal situation and the extra facilities required as a result (for example housing, (study) guidance, transport, study or educational materials);
- A doctor's statement and an additional explanatory statement from your teamleader;
- A detailed estimate of expenses required for the additional facilities mentioned above, with the exception of those covered by other sources of funding;
- A detailed overview of funding received from other sources, for example insurances or grants, with a description of the facilities covered by this funding (if applicable). An explanation should be given of why this funding is not available to you during your stay abroad.
- Correspondence demonstrating that the host institution is aware that you will come and is capable and willing to provide or arrange the extra facilities you require.
