The department of Film and Literary Studies invites you to a talk by Erin La Cour (ASCA / University of Amsterdam) about Autobiographical Graphic Novels, entitled, “Dis-member to Re-member: Negotiating Evidential and Memorial Truth in Comics.” La Cour’s talk will analyse Fun Home, the prize-winning graphic memoir by Alison Bechdel. In her talk she will address how the question of autobiographical truth is dramatized in graphic memoirs, focussing on the case of Bechdel, and her use of images, words, and documentary evidence.
