Nadine Akkerman is expert op het gebied van Engelse literatuur. Zij ontcijferde de briefwisselingen van de Boheemse koningin Elizabeth Stuart en bestudeerde 17de-eeuwse spionnen. Akkerman publiceerde recent haar nieuwe boek 'Invisible Agents'. In 2017 werd Akkerman lid van de Jonge Akademie van de Koninklijke Nederlandse Akademie van Wetenschappen (KNAW).
